What's Happening in:  Passyunk Square 

Is Passyunk the city’s real restaurant row?

Holy hell, that’s a lot, via the Daily News

We knew all this. Yes, there are a lot of great restaurants around here, but it took the Daily News to put it so eloquently. With apologies to Lauren McCutcheon for stealing her lead:

Braised pork belly with congee and sweet soy. Yellowfin tuna tartare layered with red curry, avocado and coconut broth. Squash flan adorned with brussels sprouts leaves, radish and spiced seeds. Rabbit rillette crowned with red plum, pistachio, black pepper gastrique and clover.

If you had to guess where you could nibble such haute dishes in Philly, you’d likely assume Rittenhouse Square. Maybe Old City. Or Society Hill. Chestnut Hill . . . Manayunk?

No, no, no, no and nope.

Actually, one of the most notable parts of this story is the accompanying graphic, which clearly lays out the amazing density of food and drink oriented businesses along this strip. It lists 28 businesses that have opened in the last 10 years between 10th and Broad – 28! And that doesn’t even include Chris Scarduzio’s planned Italian bistro that’s set for where Artisan Boulanger is getting ready to vacate (it does include Noord).

The hits keep on coming, though. Definitely worth reading the whole thing.
