Fond is getting oh so close

The huge, fling-out windows have been installed, the flooring is in, and the ornate, wooden bar back is leaning against the wall, ready to be installed. That means that Fond, one of the most anticipated restaurant developments in the neighborhood, is mere weeks from opening at its new location at 11th and Tasker.

Almost there

Part-owner/Chef Lee Styer says that they’re putting the finishing touches on the interior and plan to open the week after Thanksgiving. The three-bell BYOB is moving from its tight quarters at 1617 E. Passyunk Ave. into the corner property across from the fountain after a complete renovation by PARC, which bought the building this summer. The new restaurant will be directly across the street from the upcoming Noord, a Dutch BYOB that is now in the planning stages (and also in a building recently bought by PARC).

Still no word on what Styer and his partners, pasty chef/wife Jessie Prawlucki and Tory Keomanivong, plan to do with the old space, which they intend to keep and launch a new concept in.
And by the way, one of the reasons we say that the new version is so highly anticipated is because it’s going to have a bar and liquor license. That means we anticipate drinking there in full view of the fountain. Stateside has a little competition.
