After moving to Philadelphia from Miami, the city of a thousand beauty-nail-salon spas, Lisa McElhone saw an opportunity in Philly. In June 2012, she opened the Lacquer Lounge in Queen Villagewhere she felt there wasn’t a welcoming place to get a manicure or pedicure or your make-up done.
She calls it a “beautique.” It’s not quite a spa, but not only a nail salon. This month she is furthering this one-stop-shop concept by adding specialized air-brush tanning, waxing and blow-out services, plus a small gift shop.
The decor of the Lacquer Lounge is loaded with feminine white and pink flourishes and is sparkling clean. They are “obsessed with cleanliness” and they feed this obsession by using disposable liners in the foot baths and following a strict set of health and safety standards to keep the equipment sterile and free from the bad things that can grow in a nail salon.
|Say hi, Lisa
There is a whole page
dedicated to this on their website (warning before reading: ignorance is bliss). The site is in the process of being overhauled to show all the new services being added and to have the ability to book appointments online. It should be up and running soon.
McElhone also values customer service and has created a relaxed and friendly environment to get your beauty on. They are kid-friendly as well (but not too kid-friendly for those of you who enjoy time away from the rugrats). You can even throw parties there.
