Dew’s Deli opens across from Watkins Drinkery

Dew’s Deli, a Mediterranean-inspired deli/grocery/sandwich shop with some health-conscious sensibilities, opened a couple months ago at 1710 S. 10th St., across from Watkins Drinkery.

1710 S. 10th St.

From the outside, the shop doesn’t seem to stand out much from your typical South Philly hoagie palace, but inside offers plenty of delights, even for vegetarians. Dew draws from her Lebanese descent for part of her menu, which includes vegetarian wraps on top of a four-meat Italian special with sharp provolone.

She’s stocked with standard grocery items but also has tabouli, hummus, caprese salad and other items, plus wheat and white pita, spanikopita (spinach pie) and zaatar bread. She has a bangin’ chicken noodle soup, too. Find the full menu here.

That’s Dew with her hair pulled back
Salads, wraps, vegetarian options
Yes, zaatar bread is supposed to look like that, topped with spice mix of sumac, oregano, marjoram, more

We also hear Dew’s socially conscious, donating paper to the EPX Civic’s Southwork Elementary school supply drive. As a thank you, pick up some of her hummus.

Thanks to the reader who tipped us off to this new shop. Have any tips? Email

The food here is great. I am here everyday of the week to buy something. Nice and friendly people who work there. If you need something and they don’t have it you tell them and the next time you go it they will have it.

I second the “nice and friendly people” comment. Great place!
