This time, it’s A. Moskow Draperies, Curtains and Blinds, which recently closed its storefront at 1205 Snyder Ave. But an employee told us it isn’t out of business. They just didn’t want to pay for a storefront any more.

Closing after 100 years

The shop has been open for 100 years and under the current management for 45 years, the employee said, noting that if you’re in the market for custom made drapes, curtains or blinds, Moskow will still come to your home to do a consultation for free. The telephone number listed for the company is still active, 215-468-6868.

Could be a nice big window for some other operation, no?

But if you walk by the location, you’ll notice For Rent signs on the window. The store is just down the street from the crumbling medical supply store at Juniper Street, which had an “everything must go”sale in early December.

So, maybe this is all just the calm before the Snyder storm as East Passyunk’s growth spills south. We know the folks in Lomo would be thrilled.
