We got a tip recently that Bitar’s, the Mediterranean staple at 10th and Federal, is expanding.
With visions of a grand Mediterranean emporium dancing in our heads, we checked in with owner Jude Bitar to find out if it’s true. Our hopes were dashed, but people in Cherry Hill might have reason to be excited.
Bitar said he is considering a second location in Cherry Hill, where he lives, or Voorhees, but the process is just “in the baby stage.” He is thinking it would happen within a year.
The building here had been for sale, but Bitar said even though he was looking to possibly “cash out,” the right offer never came along. “You wanna buy it?” he asked. No. And at this point, we don’t want anyone else to either, because that could mean he would just sell the building and stick to his side of the river.
So, everybody, if you haven’t stopped by in a while, you should head over there, pick up some hummus, tabbouleh and tomato-cucumber salad and let Bitar know he needs to stay put.
Meanwhile, if you hear anything running around the Rumor Mill, email us at email@example.com and we’ll get to the bottom of it.
