Beard love, slimy wings, horse meat, Gennaro’s sings

So much going on around here, it calls for a link dump.

Grub Street finds out that East Passyunk has four finalists for the James Beard Awards with nods to the folks at Artisan Boulanger, Will BYOB, Le Virtu and Fond.

Adam Erace of the City Paper pans the Asian barbecue wings at Stix, at 1225 Fitzwater. “Glazed in a sugary-gingered slime, they made me want to bang bang my head against the wall.”

Speaking of Le Virtu, Foobooz spotted that chef Joe Cicala says that despite a horse meat scandal in Europe, he wants to put horse meat on the menu, and apparently so does Marc Vertri and Peter McAndrews at Monsu.

Phyllis Stein-Novack at South Philly Review loves Gennaro’s, which we told you about last month. “If you like thin-crust pizza, you will love Gennaro’s pies.”
