R5, Making Time or Titty Slap? More details on Dolphin Tavern

UPDATE: The only thing we’ve gotten confirmed is that there’s no live music. The Boot and Saddle will take care of that.

We finally got an email from a rep. at Four Corners Management, Avram Hornik’s company that is reopening the Dolphin Tavern and Boot and Saddle.

And though the email was a bit cryptic, we can glean a bit more about what’s coming.

Here it is in full:

Dave P (Making Time), Psydde Delicious (Delicious Boutique), Sean Agnew (R5 Productions), Avram Hornik and Mark Fichera (Four Corners Management) are proud to present:

The Dolphin Tavern.

Some things have changed but most are just how you left them.

Come see for yourself on March 20th. We open at 5:30pm.

TheDolphinPhilly.com

So, what does that mean? We told you last week that Dave P, DJ impresario, would be involved. But we didn’t know about Sean Agnew of R5, the man with whom Hornik partnered to book shows at Union Transfer. That suggests the possibility of live music, though the space doesn’t seem to be big enough to hold crowds even the size of Johnny Brenda’s. Maybe it would be big enough for something like the first floor of the old Khyber.

Perhaps more telling, though, is the link to Psydde Delicious, the force behind the party Fast Cheap and Out of Control, which had been held for years at Fluid, which is closing next month. He also designs corsets under the name Delicious Boutique, so that suggests some sort of burlesque show. Delicious has thrown monthly gay dance parties at North Third in Northern Liberties, started naked slap fights called Titty Slap and hosted Pornaoke at Pontiac Grille, in which you provide the soundtrack to a silent film.

Incidentally, TittySlap.com is available for $1,195.

Of course, this is all speculation because the rep who tipped us off hasn’t returned a call and an email for clarification. So, we’ll keep you posted. But with this combo of people, it sounds like something interesting will be happening every night of the week at the Dolphin.

Click here for a bunch of pictures of the inside as work was being done in December. As the rep said, “some things have changed but most are just how you left them.”

Good for Hornik for reopening a shuttered business.

Boo for plastering my whole fucking neighborhood with huge Dolphin Tavern sign/March 20 stickers. Or providing the stickers so that other people can, whatever. Either way, same result. Not cute.
