Hip & Thrifty, the women’s clothing store taking over the former Pixie Toes space at 1810 E. Passyunk Ave., will have a grand opening party this Saturday, April 20. And there’s gonna be wine. You know how we like wine.
Owner Kelli Mandruk, who turned a vacant storefront into a chic boutique in less than two weeks, will be offering ” new and gently used” women’s clothing, plus shoes, jewelry and other accessories.
Hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week to start, which is more good news for East Passyunk’s ascension as a shopping destination.
Mandruk said she’s been collecting clothes for years in anticipation of opening a store. She comes from a family of three girls, so there was plenty of inventory to start anyway.
She grew up in South Jersey but now lives in Graduate Hospital and has been searching for a location for her shop for about a year.
About half the merchandise is used and for the new stuff, she intends to keep prices low because she’s lately been buying wholesale. Like the store on Facebook to keep apprised of spontaneous deals. Mandruk said she also plans to offer a frequent shopper card that will offer 20 percent off once you stamp it a certain number of times (like at a coffee shop).
Stop in Saturday to welcome her to the neighborhood. And tell her Passyunk Post sent ya!
