What's Happening in:  Whitman

SoPhilly Spotlight: The Urban Outfitters edition

How has this house not sold yet? It’s been on Trulia for the notorious “180+” days, and they even had a (small) price drop a week ago.

Listed by Coldwell Banker Preferreed, 502 Jackson St is in the Whitman neighborhood, which isn’t exactly buzzing right now, but it’s a nice enough neighborhood in its own right and close to Pennsport, Bella Vista and East Passyunk. It’s now going for $153,900 for two bedrooms, two baths in 782 square feet. And it’s so cute!

The mixture of modern and rustic here is fabulous. We normally hate black leather couches, but this one really makes the room. The floors appear to be gussied-up plywood. But from here it looks great. From the listing:

This row home looks ripped out of an Urban Outfitters catalogue! …Completely remodeled, with all new electric, plumbing, ductwork, and drywall. The kitchen is knocked out and equipped with attractive stainless steel appliances and unique storage space. Upstairs, the master bedroom gets plenty of light with help from a lovely bay window. The cozy second bedroom can also be used as a study or office. Equipped with heated floor tiles, the large bathroom also… features a brand new washer and dryer.

It’s on the corner of Jackson and cattywampus Moyamensing, which may be why it seems a little wider than your usual rowhome.

You can never go wrong with a splash of red, either.

The door with the mottled glass is a lovely accent.

That is a LARGE room! With bay windows! And a fan that is, quite frankly, terrifying.

…and fabulous built-ins and a sliding antique door.

And it’s a huge improvement over what it looked like before! (red door to bay window)

What do you think? Is $153k a good price for this?
