An interesting real-estate listing popped up on the Interwebs recently, 1916 E Passyunk Ave. It’s interesting for a couple reasons. One is that a business is currently operating there, Sammi’s Shoe Box.
The other is that the listing by Century 21 Forrester Real Estate for the 2,000 square foot space says the owner wants $4,500 a month. Seems a bit steep.
Meanwhile, a source close to the owner of the building also owns the store, which is not closing. The owner “is floating around the idea of renting it to another party. If someone comes along then obviously he would close, but nothing is happening until a tenant is secured.”
Hell, $4,500 a month is probably more than the store makes. But he’s swinging for the fences. According to the listing:
1st Floor Retail space of approximately 2,000 SF with an additional 2,000 sf of basement space on prime block along the East Passyunk Avenue Business District, which is known as Restaurant Row. The space is part of a double 3-sty commercial/mixed use property with apartments on the upper floors. Could be combined with a 3rd building for even more space but rental rate would be adjusted.
What do you think? Could he get anywhere near that?
