Free yoga in Mifflin Square Park through June

Some good news for Philadelphians: Forbes says we’re pretty flexible.

According to a recent study by the business mag, the nation’s fifth largest city is its third best city for yoga, behind Seattle and San Francisco.

Through reader surveys, Forbes found that Philly residents are 42 percent more likely to break out into a downward dog or cobra than the general population. Part of the 58 percent still sitting at home? The Friends of Mifflin Square Park want to change that.

The group is sponsoring a free yoga series at the park on 6th and Ritner streets every Saturday through June 22. The complimentary classes will be taught by an instructor from East Passyunk Avenue’s own Wake Up Yoga.

Yoga mats will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.

UPDATE: Whoops, left the time out. The classes run 10 to 11 a.m.

Thanks so much for the story. Just a quick note that there is no yoga this Saturday (May 25). We’re skipping the holiday weekend, but we’ll be back in the park June 1, 8, 15, & 22. Hope to see you there!
