What's Happening in:  East Passyunk Crossing

First Pics: Addiction Boutique opens at 1713 S. 12th St.

The women’s clothing store Addiction Boutique, which we told you last month was coming to 12th and Passyunk, has opened at 1713 S. 12th St.

Addiction is the second location for owner Alicia DiMichele, who has had a store by the same name in Cherry Hill for four years. The boutique leans toward bold prints and bright colors, so if you like a type of Jersey Shore meets L.A. fab look, you would love this place.

The store’s motto: “Always dress like you are going to see your worst enemy.”

“The style is for the trendsetters, it’s something you don’t see anywhere else,” said DiMichele, who passed up on an opportunity to be in a Philly version of “Mob Wives.”

DiMichele said she chose the location, which previously was the tanning salon Bronze Bar, because “many of my customers from my New Jersey store are from Philly. Also because Passyunk is the new and upcoming area of the city.”

She said business has been going extremely well since the grand opening May 23.

“Shopping is my addiction. I kind of get a natural high from it,” DiMichele said of her reason behind the name of the store, as well as why she enjoys owning her own clothing business.

As for buying the clothes that are sold in her stores, DiMichele shops in Los Angeles and New York. She also attends multiple fashion shows in New York and Las Vegas, where she chooses the clothes that she wants to be sold in her stores.

The prices of Addiction’s clothing are not terribly expensive, but not exactly cheap. A pair of high wasted, cut-off jean shorts, for example, were tagged for $55.00.

Jersey skank-ery at its finest. This won’t last – the neighborhood’s changed too much.

Acer – you’d be surprised. Still enough people in South Philly that’ll go there. I would know – I’m related to a lot of them. :-)
