What's Happening in:  East Passyunk Crossing

First Pics: Cloth, a natural baby store, opens at 1605 E. Passyunk Ave.

Cloth, the natural-products baby store we were the first to tell you about in April, opened last weekend at 1605 E. Passyunk Ave.

Neighborhood residents and husband and wife Shai and Angela Halperin had a son in 2010 and decided to capitalize on all the other cloth-diapered babies who were sprouting up around here. And all of their merchandise hews to the natural way of bringing up baby.

The angular space is divided into two rooms.

There is a wide range of offerings on hand under that natural rubric, including – get ready for it – cloth diapers and supplies; sustainably produced, fair-wage baby carriers, wooden toys and potty training items; organic clothing; toxin-free baby, bath and prenatal sundries; greeting cards; Flensted mobiles and more.

“Hooter” is one of maybe 30 euphemisms on products in the store, many of which said “bum.”

The shop will also offer a range of classes, including the Blossoming Bellies childbirth classes by doula Brittany McCollum and cloth-diapering training sessions by Angela Halperin, which will start soon.

Several of the products are locally produced by Babee Crafts, Fancy Cloth Baby, Soap Box Holistics and others. You may recognize this design on the blue T-shirt on the right from the local guys at Hog Island Press:
