Owner of the store, Christina Saboe, says that she is planning on opening for business sometime next week, or the week after. Don’t worry about that stop-work order, which was issued in March. Permits for the work on the rest of the building, which include three apartments on the second and third floors, were updated on Tuesday.
Fireside Camp Supply is going to have all of the essentials that are needed for camping, including tents and clothing, as well a great number of other outdoor supplies.
Much of the equipment sold will be American-made brands, such as Polerstuff, Bison Made and Minnetonka. According to the owner, she is thinking about selling kayaks, as well. Renting camping equipment is also going to be available in the near future.
“It is a local alternative,” Saboe said. “For those who enjoy camping to not have to leave the city to get their camping supplies, they can get it all right here in their own neighborhood.”
She also hopes that this store will inspire the urbanites of Philadelphia to explore the wilderness and experience fresh, crisp air. Being able to rent camping supplies might help. “Fireside is a lighthearted, hip and youthful store that carries well made, easy to use products to ensure the comfort and safety of the customer,” according to their website. Well that’s nice.
Fireside Camping Supply will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
