There’s plenty on the To-Do List this weekend, in and out of South Philly, so here are a few ideas. Have fun!
The 12th annual Stephen Starr-Gary Maddox BBQ Challenge runs from 1 to 4 p.m. right outside of Citizens Bank Park. It’s free to enter and thousands of people will be there tasting the best ribs in the city. Pay as you go for food.
This year welcomes some of the finest rib-making, barbecue-prepping restaurants in the Greater Philadelphia area. Think Fette Sau, Baby Blues BBQ, Parc, Barclay Prime, McFadden’s and El Rey. Participating restaurants will battle it out for the winning spots in a number of different categories like chef’s choice, rib competition and chicken competition.
Chinatown music venue the Trocadero will curate the music at The Oval, the new pop-up civic space on the Ben Franklin Parkway in front of the Art Museum. They’ll be doing next three Saturdays, actually. 6-8 p.m. Free.
The massive 2nd Street Festival happens in Northern Liberties from noon to 10 p.m. on 2nd between Germantown Avenue and Green Street. Thousands of people will pack that seven-block stretch and there will be music, food, drinks, merriment…
