Will BYOB (1911 E. Passyunk Ave.) has a lot to celebrate.
Its chef, Christopher Kearse, took home the Best New Chef accolade from Philly mag’s annual Best of Philly issue earlier this month, and the restaurant itself is commemorating a milestone — one year of serving South Philly, as of Aug. 24.
To mark its first birthday, Will is throwing a party, and you’re invited. Between Aug. 21 and 24, Kearse is plating a special tasting menu that reads like a greatest hits of his favorite dishes from the past year.
Fare includes Jersey corn veloute (made with poached lobster, shisito pepper and huitlacoche), burgundy escargot with Parisian gnocchi, and Rohan duck.
The special menu is $55 per person.
Fun fact: Huitlacoche is translated as “corn smut” in English. It’s a delicacy, we promise.
