Eater Philly reports that the restaurant is changing the format of the menu to make it one page (instead of the current two) and it will change daily to focus more on local, seasonal produce. A new section for contorni will be included, which generally means “side dishes” of grilled vegetables or salads (primi=first, secondi=second, contorni=with the meal).
Meanwhile, Cicala and the owners of Le Virtu, Cathy Lee and Francis Cretarola, are working together on a new restaurant that Cicala told Eater could turn into a franchise opportunity – “if we do it right,” he told the site.
Back in November, we told you that Le Virtu was exploring a new concept with small plates from the Campania region, which sits on the lower shin of the Italian boot and includes Salerno, Napoli and the Amalfi Coast (Abruzzo is the lower calf).
No deal has been finalized but they do have a location picked out. Here’s hoping they don’t stray too far from home.
