SoPhilly Spotlight: Major fixer-upper edition. But huge potential

For this week’s SoPhilly Spotlight, we bring you something quite affordable at $179,000.

1531 S. 8th St.

It’s a 3- bed, 1-bath home at 1531 S. 8th St. It’s got a lot of potential, with plenty of space over more than 1,200 square feet and a huge back yard. But it’s kind of a nightmare inside, so is that worth the price?

With a ton of elbow grease, this huge backyard could be awesome. Kind of like the rest of the house

It could cost another $100,000 to get this house in decent shape (a total stab in the dark), which would put the total at $279k. That would be a good deal for a renovated place of this size. But is it worth the six months it would take? I could see this going to a house flipper. And you?
