You read that headline right. Yes, it’s eight bedrooms, yes, it’s affordable, and no, it’s not a dump nor in a shitty neighborhood.
Coming in at $289,900, this week’s SoPhilly Spotlight is at 1529 S. 15th St., less two blocks from the Tasker subway and a quick walk from all the other good stuff around here. It’s also huge: 2,800 square feet.
High ceilings, original french doors, Wide open living room with gorgeous refinished h/wood floors, soaring ceilings and crown moldings. Large dining area open to the custom kitchen with granite bar counter, wood cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, and sleek tile backsplash.
A couple curiosities: 1) It’s listed as having 2.25 bathrooms, which probably means a toilet in the corner of an unfinished basement, no walls or sink. That setup was portrayed as a “1/4 bath” in the real estate listing for Passyunk Post’s world headquarters 7+ years ago. And 2):
2nd floor hosts 4/bedrooms front, middle and back bedrooms with nice light and closet space, original hardwood flooring in addition to a full tile bath off hall.
Four bedrooms on the second floor and a full bath? Those must be incredibly tiny rooms. But this one upstairs sure isn’t.
Steps up to the 3rd floor four large bedrooms, natral light in hallway, all new carpeting, original claw tub bathroom, rear bedroom has sliding doors to large flat [roof] and be a possible deck. large full cemented basement with a brand new heater, plenty of storage. This home is in the new BOLD neighborhood ! 8 bedrooms, large rear yard total lot size 16 x 100…Close to center city, passyunk square, restaurants, shopping, banking, etc.
At this price and this size, we wouldn’t be surprised if someone tried to break the thing up into apartments, though the neighbors probably wouldn’t be too happy about that.
Or you could turn it into the mansion of you dreams. So, are you going to write a check for $289k, or what?
