Pub on Passyunk East adds two bathrooms – & soon a new lounge space

The POPE at Passyunk and Dickinson has been busy working on a little construction project that will mean more seating and less of a wait in the bathroom line.

A bartender told us that the construction, which is taking place in the bar’s former office space, will house a new “lounge.” Two new bathrooms were finished a few weeks ago, he said.

You access the new features by walking around to the back of the bar and taking a right into the corner.

The space behind the glass door isn’t huge, about 12 feet by 14 feet, but we could imagine it fitting another 15 people or so. There will also be a large window that will add some street presence to Passyunk. It’s certainly better than an office that never wanted to be seen from the street. The bartender said he expected the lounge to open next month.

I love POPE and I am happy they have added more restrooms. But the real question is, will these new restrooms also display Patrick Swayze stickers? It wouldn’t be a POPE restroom with out 80′s nostalgia!

C’mon, POPE, you can do better than calling it a “lounge.” How about conclave? Vestibule? Sacristy?

Now all the POPE has to do is price their pints the same as every other bar, instead of $1+ more.

Peaked in from the street and it looks good in there.
