The classical-French inspired Good King Tavern opened last weekend at 614 S. 7th St. in Bella Vista. That’s where Chick’s was for years, across from Nomad Pizza.
Eater Philly reports that the restaurant is owned by father-and-daughter Bernard and Chloe Grigri. The chef is Paul Lyons, who spent the summer at Morgan’s Pier with George Sabatino.
Expect some classic French dishes with a twist here and there, says the blog:
The brasserie-style menu offers classics like steak frites, escargots, andsocca (a chickpea-flour pancake that’s a staple in Nice), with a few twists—a take on frisee aux lardons verges toward Southern comfort food with the addition of butternut squash and pecans; the croque-monsieur swaps inhousemade bologna for the more typical ham.
The bar will have six hosue wines by the glass and pichet (aka pitcher).
