A storefront at 1205 Snyder Ave., the former Moskow Draperies shop, is set to become a hair salon.
A use permit was filed with the city this week for “a hair salon (personal services) on the first floor” with a two-family dwelling on the floors above, according to city records.
Moskow closed in January 2013 after more than 100 years at that location, 45 years under the same management. The building was sold the month before the business closed for the bargain-basement price of $108,000, city records show. Place must have needed a ton of work (unless that is somehow a mistake).
Despite closing its location, the curtain business is still operating. So, if you’re in the market for drapes, curtains or blinds, call 215-468-6868.
In the meantime, keep an eye out for any activity there. We haven’t been able to connect with the business owner, so that’s all the information we have about this place so far.
Just across the street, though, work has begun on the beer distributor in the old Superior Plumbing Supply building.
And Landmark Architecture is finishing up the exterior improvements to its building at Snyder and Juniper.
And the most pressing of all is the proposed Thai takeout joint for 13th and Snyder. That proposal is up for a zoning committee meeting before the Lower Moyamensing Civic Association on Monday night. So, if you want Thai food at that corner, go to the Fumo Family Library at Broad and Porter on March 17 at 6:30 p.m.
