Dog groomer/walking company moving into corner at 13th and Jackson

A dog groomer at 21st and Oregon is opening a second location, this one in the home of the short-lived How ‘Bout a Hoagie shop at 13th and Jackson.

Called Pets and the City, the new shop is shooting to be open by next weekend, says owner Louie Derr. Work was nearly finished when we talked to him last week.

Derr says that in addition to grooming, the shop will offer doggie day care, walking services and in-home pet-sitting if you don’t want to kennel your animals while on vacation.

Between this and the proposed dog park on Broad & Jackson, I guess you could say that LoMo is going to the dogs. 😉

Dog friendly areas lead to more businesses? What happens when we hit the “inverted U curve” apex on that and the laws of diminishing returns kicks in?

Hopefully it will last. I’ve been in South Philly for 34 years and the only place i remember being at this location for many years was the Party Room! lol. Good luck to anyone who moves into this property.

It was a day care back in the late 80’s I think.. In the mid 90’s it was the original location for Nick’s Charcoal Pitt which is on Snyder now (Hands down best ribs in Philly still!).
