Could Center City’s Kanella be heading south?

Kanella, the popular Greek BYOB with the killer brunch at 10th and Spruce, looks to be behind the liquor license that popped up recently in the former Village Belle.

Foobooz reports that the app in the papered-over windows at 757 S Front St. bears the name Kanella South. Says the blog:

Could this be a new restaurant from Konstantinos Pitsillides, the owner of Kanella at 10th and Spruce streets? The new license application isn’t in the system yet, so we reached out to Pitsillides but haven’t heard back yet. Back in March, Pitsillides sent us a teasing email, “Kanella will buy a new bigger space or maybe, they just did.”

The blog wasn’t able to confirm anything, and a search of the PLCB’s terrible liquor license app database turned up the license as still being in “safekeeping” under Village Belle.

We’ll keep you posted.
