SoPhilly Spotlight: Before Pennsport Blows Up edition

For this week’s SoPhilly Spotlight, we wanted to remind you that it is still possible to buy a nice place in South Philly without completely breaking the bank.

Nice little cubby-hole window into the kitchen.
Nice little cubby-hole window into the kitchen.

Coming in at a reasonable $184,900, 248 Sigel St. is in  a nice, residential section of Pennsport just around the corner from Dickinson Square Park and the Mellody nanobrewery and six other businesses that are proposed for Moyamensing and Moore. If you’re on the fence about this area, you might want to jump on it before that project gets approved. It’d be like getting in to East Passyunk before the Cantina opened.

From the listing by Alpha Realty:

Modern 2 bedroom home on one of Pennsports finest blocks. Modern Eat in Kitchen and Modern Bath, 2 Nice size bedrooms. Nice size yard with deck, newer Mechanicals thru out.

That’s it. They don’t say anything else. And would you consider this a “modern kitchen?”

Not exactly. But install a few new appliances and tear up the carpet that’s in most of the house, and you essentially have a brand-new place.  Granted, the pictures are terrible, but that’s not the house’s fault.

What do you think? Would you make this your home for $184,900?
