OM’Gosh: Osh Kosh B’gosh/Carter’s mashup store in Snyder Plaza is open

Those of you desperately in need a gift for a baby shower, an emergency sport coat for a 5-month-old or articles of clothing you never dreamed of before having children, fear not, the mega OshKosh B’gosh/Carter’s mashup is officially open in the Snyder Plaza near ShopRite.

You gotta admit, it’s kind of refreshing to see a store promise a June opening date and actually deliver on it. The other good news is that the arrival of OshKosh & friends mean there are no current vacancies in the east plaza, which also houses Modell’s, IHOP, Chuck E Cheese, Payless and ShopRite – it’s anchor.

The store officially opened on June 26 and operates from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. everyday except Sunday, when it closes at 6.

“As a mom who has driven 20+ miles to get to a Carter’s/Osh Kosh combo store, I was most excited to see the new addition to the neighborhood,” said Terri Broyles, a Pennsport resident who can walk to the new store. “I have been in twice already. The store is bright and neat as you expect from the brand. The staff is equally as delightful and very helpful.”

That sounds like great news, even if the model has shifted from more big-box retails to Main Street mainstays. With Target, Walmart, Babies R’ Us and now this Osh Kosh/ Carter’s store in the area, it’s no wonder local guys like Norman’s on Two Street have shuttered recently.

The good news continues to roll in for the area in and around the Snyder Plaza. Road improvements and re-striping have made Swanson Street, Water Street and Snyder Avenue a little less difficult to navigate. As for the plaza itself, there are only a few vacancies left to fill, including the large King Buffet in the Snyder Plaza South.

Where’s the Babies R Us located in the area? All I’m aware of is the small section inside the Toys R Us store.

If you’re looking to buy clothes for your 5 year old MADE by someone else’s 5 year old (in a sweatshop), this is the place for you.
