Hallelujah. Demo finally starting at Scarduzio’s 12th and Passyunk building

Fencing went up this morning at 12th and Morris, a blessed sign that demolition is finally starting on the former home of Artisan Boulanger, and the future home of chef Chris Scarduzio’s long-planned bistro.

We last checked in with Scarduzio in April — nearly two years since it was first reported about the project — and at the time he said he wanted to have the building torn down by the middle of May.

He plans about 40 to 50 seats inside on the first floor, with about another 30 seats on the sidewalk outside, weather permitting. The concept had not been finalized when we last talked to him, but we left him a message to check for more details. He did say at the time that he wants people to be able to afford to eat there regularly.

Maybe if all goes well, we can in early 2015?

Unfortunately, no. I hear that it’s still on track, but that’s about it.
