Toyotomi sushi moves out of 11th and Moore and into 1627 Ritner St.

To fans of Toyotomi at 11th and Moore, fear not. The affordable (mostly) takeout sushi place did close up shop at 11th and Moore streets, but it is resurfacing at 1627 Ritner St., which used to be Chiarella’s Gourmet Pizza.

We hear that a rent increase prompted the move, though we haven’t been able to get a hold of the owner to confirm that.

The sushi joint, which falls within the borders of the relatively new Melrose Civic Association, closed on June 30 after consistently getting relatively good reviews on Yelp. Let’s hope they can get open and slinging sushi in the new spot soon.

They’re not open yet in the new place, but I think they used to.

I stopped in and talked to someone going work in there and he said it was going to reopen as an Indonesian restaurant

Indonesian? Hmm, that’s what it was before Toyotomi moved in. Though, only for about 1 month.

Really hoping it’s sushi… there’s already Sky Cafe on Ritner. It would be great if Ritner St. west of Broad benefits from rent increases around East Passyunk. There are some great small businesses there but room for more, it seems.

Bummer. This place has good sushi and great prices. we need one like it in Passyunk. Izumi is good but too expensive for those of us who like to eat sushi regularly.

I thought their sushi was awful TBH…too much (poorly made rice) and very little fish. Just my opinion, i’m hoping something really great goes in there.

I had sashimi there dozens of times, always found it quite good for the price.
