Is a third nail salon coming to 4th and Snyder?

An interesting zoning permit recently popped up on the former Millennium Home Products storefront at the intersection of 4th Street and Moyamensing and Snyder Avenues.

It’s noteworthy because the permit seeks to add yet another nail salon to the bustling corner where Whitman meets Pennsport. Or does it?

We spoke with a member of Whitman Council who said that Holiday Nails, which sits on the northeast corner of Moyamensing and Snyder Avenue, is actually looking to move across the street into a bigger space.

The area certainly isn’t lacking places to care for those cuticles. City Nails sits directly across Snyder Avenue from the empty Millennium Home Products store and Pink Nails recently opened in the Pennsport Mall.

So why the zoning notice? Well, it looks like the address of 2101 S. 4th Street is zoned residential, even though it was last home to a commercial space. The notice seeks the permit for a personal service (nail salon) on the first floor while keeping the three muti-family dwellings on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

It will go before the Zoning Board of Adjustment on Wednesday, Aug. 27.
