Roof collapses at For Pete’s Sake as it expands into second floor

UPDATE: The restaurant is throwing a Raise the Roof fundraiser party on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to midnight at Old Swede’s church. More info here.

The roof collapsed yesterday at For Pete’s Sake, the Queen Village pub at Front and Christian streets that was in the process of expansion.

The restaurant, at 900 S. Front St.,  went before the Queen Village Neighbors Association in April to seek permission to expand its dining room into the second floor. The QVNA intended to support the plan, which included another dining room on the second floor and offices and storage space on the third.

Those floors previously housed apartments. Looks like the plan for more elbow room will be a bit delayed.

Metro reported that the collapse happened yesterday afternoon:

Around 3:30 p.m. today, Tim Roland was having a cocktail at For Pete’s Sake Pub, a bar on Front and Christian Streets in Queen Village. The building then “started shaking like an earthquake,” Roland told a Metro Philadelphia photographer.

No injuries were reported.
