First Pics: Chhaya reopens with room to spare at 1819 E. Passyunk Ave.

Cafe, coffeeshop and waffle specialist Chhaya has moved into its bigger location at 1819 E. Passyunk Ave., just two doors up from the original that opened in 2010.

Though it’s only double the size, it seems even bigger, and now the cafe is poised to become a new-mommy haven since there’s finally room to stow a stroller — or two or three, for that matter.

Owner V Beuria has opened with the same menu of pour-over coffee, espresso drinks, pastries, sandwiches, waffles and breakfast dishes. But she says that once they’ve settled in after a few weeks, they’ll start adding some new items to the menu. Eventually, she plans to experiment with later hours and may even start dinnertime service.
