Some jerk caught on video trying to get into cars
A poster on the Philadelphia Speaks forum captured this video of a guy nonchalantly testing car doors to see if any were open.
Says the poster, readicculus:
My dropcam caught this piece of trash trying to get into cars @ 12 & Daly on 9/4/14. I forwarded the video to the police. Keep your doors locked!
Worse still, the poster says he sent in the video to the Police Department’s tip line and hasn’t heard anything back.
In the meantime, heed that advice, and keep your doors locked!
Police were called by neighbors on 9/8 and took a guy away who was hanging around the cars parked at 1216 S 12th St. behind the empty retail space. Neighbors keeping an eye out and who don’t mind stepping up when they see something unusual really help to keep a neighborhood safe. Thanks to all who help.
TJB… Anyone know who that guy was? My car was broken into on 13th street between Moore & Morris late Sunday night / Monday morning. Never had a problem here in the past. Stole my change (I can get over that) and a nice pair of sunglasses that I never leave in my car (except of course when a crackhead POS is lurking around). Any tips or info are appreciated.
KB, maybe try calling the 3rd district? If you reported the break-in, maybe the two events could be tied together.
I live at 13th and Moore, thats sucks. We had our car broken into last May. Since then, have called out 2 different people trying to open unlocked doors. They got defensive but backed down and moved on. If you see something, say something, or if you are uncomfortable, take a pic or video. Sorry about your car.

There’s the one house @ the corner of 12th st and Daly st, across from the corner store, that has a ton of people coming in and out. I’m cool with the guy who lives there but a lot of his associates/friends are just trouble.
I live right near there too. I know the house you’re talking about and there’s a whole lot of not cool things going on there. Drugs, kids, a dog… not a good combo. Many neighbors are upset over it- people have installed cameras for their own safety. I don’t know the family there, so I don’t want to say anything about them personally, but the activities there, their “visitors” and needed police patrols aren’t so great. The owner of the home has changed her number because so many neighbors have tried to reach her with complaints. Not to mention, the kids throw things at people and bark at them. What’s that about? I don’t see a whole lot of parenting going on.
Just noticed the other day that this house across from the corner of market at 12th and Daly appears to have been vacated. Saw a bunch of men removing all sorts of debris.

My car was broken into twice in the past two weeks.
Both times it was parked on 1800 block of S 8th St (btw Moore and Mifflin). Parked there for years without a problem.
My car got its windows smashed on 12th and mifflin a couple mos ago. This had been a big problem for peoples cars in the east passyunk area. My radio was ripped out of the dashboard and I know a handful of people that this has happened to. The cops have done absolutely nothing.
