SoPhilly Spotlight: Huge, Affordable Backyard edition

This week’s SoPhilly Spotlight is not the biggest house on the block, but the backyard very well may be.

This 1031 sq. ft. house at 2340-44 Marshall St., near 7th and Ritner streets, has a listing price of $160,000.

What sets this 2 bed, 1 bath house apart is the large attached backyard. It’s also not just a 1 lot backyard, but 2 full lots for gardening and general outdoor enjoyment—which as we all know, is a rarity in the city. In addition to a backyard space, the house is also located within walking distance of Mifflin Park.

From the listing by BHHS-Fox Roach:

Incredible opportunity to own a large garden with your home! This South Philly row home comes with not 1 but 2 lots attached to the home creating a total lot size of 42 X 49! The current owners use the space for an extra large garden area. The home itself has been lovingly maintained.

One of the only cons about this place is that it’s in a section of town that has no registered community organization, wedged in an unclaimed are between the Lower Moyamensing Civic Association and the Whitman Council.

But on the merits of the house itself, what do you think of it?

I hope it has bunkers to hide in when gunfire from 7st flies through the yard everynight.

What a stupid comment! This house looks like a good deal for the price.

What confuses me is how the property taxes and utility bills are handled since it is three different addresses.
