New shop called Mesh Vintage opening at 1935 E. Passyunk Ave.

The funky, angular building at 1935 E. Passyunk Ave. looks like it’s getting a cool new tenant, Mesh Vintage.

We spotted this sign the other day…

…in the window here, right off Broad where Passyunk crooks to the left, across from the soon-to-be Palladino’s.

A Facebook page for the shop says on Sept. 15 that the owner signed a lease. “I’m no longer a hoarder, rather a shop keeper. Hope to open early October,” the post says.

Judging by the comments on the post, it looks like shoppers will enjoy it. Says one: “I’ve seen your wardrobe and clothes hoarding room and I can say with certainty that this store is going to rule!!!”

Sounds promising. The website is still under construction but the Facebook page’s About section says: “vintage/ resale / thrift women & mens wearable vintage clothing/accessories.” With Hip & Thrifty opening a block up the avenue last year, this is adding some vintage shopping critical mass. Bring it on, right?

Let’s hope this business does better than the string of previous tenants, most recently Platinum Event Services, and before that it was the mish mash that was the A-1 Sunny gift shop.

Thank you so much for this, we are so excited to be part of the community, buuuut we are now going to be across the street in the old flower shop. Beautiful space, totally updated. The owners exposed the brick on one side and found / kept the original tin ceiling while remodeling. Updates to come!
