Senior housing being proposed for 2 skinny blocks in Whitman

A low-rise senior housing development is being proposed for two small blocks just below Snyder Avenue in Whitman.

The Presby’s Inspired Life company, which has 31 locations around the Philly region, including one at 16th and Reed, will present its plans Thursday night, Sept. 25 to the Whitman Council.

“Join us as we present to our Neighbors our continuing vision and commitment to provide beautiful and affordable housing for seniors on the 400 and 500 blocks of Cantrell Street,” a flier announces. The meeting will be held at Jackson Place, 501 Jackson St., in its 1st floor community room on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Presby’s Inspired Life, whose website features a spry granny-looking figure doing push-ups, says its communities provide “a dynamic and uplifting living experience for more than 3,000 senior adults in 31 communities throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.” Head out to the meeting for some more info.

Senior housing seems to be an increasing need in the area, no? Just last year, the 64-unit Cedars Village development opened near 10th and Ellsworth.
