New American pub concept SouthHouse is in the works in LoMo
A liquor license recently popped up on the former Quattro’s spot located near 13th and Shunk St. in Lower Moyamensing.
We talked with owner Thom Sueta (Pronounced Swe-tuh) about his upcoming new establishment SouthHouse — a “New American Pub” concept with executive chef Thomas Day. “What we’re planning is a blend of your neighborhood bars with some of the finer pieces of a gastropub” said Sueta when describing the experience at SouthHouse.
The menu will feature Day’s take on some classic American food highlighted by fresh ingredients. Look for a variety of soups, salads, sandwiches, and specialty burgers upon opening. Of course, that’s not all.
Some of the new features of SouthHouse include a newly-installed tap system with 12 rotating draft beers (something Quattro’s didn’t have) that will include both standard beers and craft beers, as well as an open-concept kitchen. “We want to open up the kitchen wall and have people see what’s going on in there” said Sueta. SouthHouse is his first foray into the restaurant business.
Officially located at 2535 S, 13th St., SouthHouse is also going to have what Sueta calls a “Rustic-Industrial motif” — think wood grains and raw metals. Sueta talked about how exposed heating and cooling vents complemented by a wooden bar and hardwood floors would be some of the main features of its style.
Sueta says he’s been “overwhelmed” by the neighborhood support of his upcoming restaurant. “The neighbors have been fantastic” he said. “We are all excited to create something new…especially for this part of South Philly.”
As for the liquor license, Sueta is currently in the process of having transferred from the previous owner, so there is no set opening day yet for SouthHouse. However, he hopes to open SouthHouse sometime in November.

This is great news! I have been saying for years now that either the old Quattro spot or Colanzis would make a wonderful spot. Finally a chance for a nice eatery in that spot.
