Lindsey Scannapieco will present plans for Bok at info-only meeting next week

The East Passyunk Crossing Civic Association (EPX) has shifted their monthly zoning meeting to the auditorium at Southwark Elementary School to accommodate a special, information-only session.

Lindsey Scannapieco, developer/owner of Scout LTD., will present the plans for the adaptive re-use project at Bok Technical High School at 9th and Mifflin St. And you thought the Blatstein presentation on Nov. 17 regarding Broad and Washington was the only biggie next week.

The meeting will be held inside the auditorium at Southwark Elementary School at 1835 S. 9th St on Nov. 19. It’s open to the public and will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. to first discuss a triplex at 1910 S. 11th St. Scannapieco is scheduled to begin the presentation at 7:30 p.m. According to EPX, “Scannapieco will provide an early, preliminary view of her plans for the school’s re-use and will take questions and input from the audience.”

The project is a huge undertaking by Scout LTD., who purchased the property back in September for $2.1M. Expected to happen in phases, they plan to revive the 340,000 square-foot Art Deco building into an artist/maker space as “a center for design, entrepreneurship and fabrication,” according to a news release. Subterranean parking is supposedly in the plans to ease the potential parking burden on the community. Upper floors would be created into “affordable rental apartments” geared towards the arts/maker community. Scout LTD. is also planning to “unlock” five roof terrace areas for public access.

Here’s what their website says about the vision for Bok:

Offering an unprecedented concentration of space for Do-It-Yourself (DIY) innovators, artists and entrepreneurs, our proposed new use will channel the maker and craftsman roots of Bok’s history into a new showcasing space for Philadelphia’s leading creative talent.

Info-only presentation means that no decisions or votes will be made and the subsequent meetings will follow. EPX recommends that you RSVP to the event via their Facebook Page.
