‘Tis the season of giving, Friends of Jackson to split $500 prize with Neighbors Investing in Childs Elementary

Now, isn’t this NICE?

As you may have seen, Friends of Jackson Elementary (FoJ) finished as the top vote-getter in our poll for the $500 bet with HughE Dillon of PhillyChitChat. In the spirit of giving, they’ve decided to split the prize with Neighbors Investing in Childs Elementary (NICE), who narrowly finished in second place.

“In keeping with the season of giving  and spirit of good will, we would like to split the winnings with Childs,” said Michelle Kehoe, Secretary of Friends of Jackson. “We [FOJ and NICE] are both working to support the quality education offered in our neighborhood public schools.”

How great is that? FOJ isn’t sure how they’ll use the $250, but Kehoe said in an email that they’ll “put it to good use in 2015.”

NICE had said that if they won the money that they would put it towards an overhaul of the school auditorium. You can find more info on that fundraising campaign here.

Jackson Elementary is located in Passyunk Square at 1213 S. 12th St. Childs Elementary can be found at 1599 S. 17th St. inNewbold. You can get more information about Friends of Jackson via their Facebook Page  or website. Neighbors Investing in Childs Elementary has a great website with updates on meetings and projects.
