New restaurant from Noord coming to Italian Market
In May of 2013, Noord , a Northern European BYOB by chef Joncarl Lachman, opened its doors at 1046 Tasker St.
Now, to celebrate two years of Noord, Lachman and Bob Moysan are planning a second restaurant, this time in the Italian Market at 943 S. 9th St.
According to Michael Klein of The Insider:
The glass storefront and the distinctive black-and-white-tile entryway – across the street from Villa Di Roma, the original Di Bruno Bros., and Blue Corn – has no name yet.
Lachman is planning a French/North African theme – a bit farther south than Noord’s Northern European style – with a romantic, sexy vibe.
To help achieve this, two of the curb stands out front will be removed.
He hopes to open May 8 or thereabouts, Noord’s anniversary.
This location was formerly the home of 943, an Argentinian-Italian restaurant. The restaurant occupied the space from 2011 through 2013.

943 was fantastic. It’s a real shame that the chef/owner had some major health issues that led to them closing the restaurant. There was some serious talent in that kitchen.
Great news!! Love Noord and the guys that own it are awesome!! Used to have cocktails with them after they closed over at Stateside. Hope this will encourage more talent to come to the market as well.

In the last 5 years or so, it’s been at least 3 different restaurants, none of which have lasted a year.

I think you have it mixed up. Prior to being the restaurant “943” it was a gift shop/gallery.
