First Pics: Hawthorne’s reopens after fire at 11th and Fitzwater — with beer delivery

It’s official. Hawthorne’s is now open and bigger and better than ever.

After a fire back in February 2014, the future of the beer boutique and eatery at 11th and Fitzwater seemed somewhat bleak. Now, about 10 months later, Hawthorne’s is back in full force.

The restaurant’s official first day back was on Sunday, serving brunch.

Upon entering Hawthorne’s you’ll notice a lot of new things. The eating area has expanded, a new breakfast bar was installed, the growler-filling station is now more prominent on the floor-plan, as is the selection of beers, which is now directly next to the breakfast bar.

One of the most exciting changes happening with the reopening of Hawthorne’s is the addition of a beer delivery service. The service, which will officially launch this weekend, will begin with the delivery of 6-packs in a 10-block radius of Hawthorne’s. The wait for your beer will be no longer than 40 mins and the service will be offered up until midnight.

Owner Chris Fetfatzes wants the beer delivery to be a “neighborhood service, but on a citywide scale.” Yes, that means that this beer delivery will not just be in a 10-block radius forever. Fetfatzes plans to expand the radius to span from river-to-river and eventually, it will span the entire city.

The delivery service, called Hawthorne’s Quick Sip, will be app and web-based, but orders can still be placed over the phone. To start, the service will include half a dozen deliverymen on bikes, mopeds and cars. So basically, this is an Uber-like service, but for beer delivery.

Hawthorne’s is open from Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. through 11 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. through 10 p.m. For information on exact hours for different meals and more on the reopening, visit Hawthorne’s website.

What do you think of the new and improved Hawthorne’s?

They had over a year to brainstorm on a chalkboard idea and they settled on an LL Cool J quote? I bet if they asked the guy who maintained the Cambridge chalkboards he would’ve done something spectacular. (I am him and I would have).
