This week’s SoPhilly Spotlight falls on the border of Dickinson Narrows, better known as Dickinson Square West, and Pennsport. If you recall, Dickinson Narrows was just recently named as one of the hottest neighborhoods in the country by Redfin.
This home is located directly across from Dickinson Square Park. With 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, this home at 1622 S. 4th St. comes in at $475,000.

AAHHH…..I’m home. Do you ever feel that way after a long day away from home, that as soon as you walk in you have an AAHH moment. Well, this house makes you feel that way…you’re home. Walk in to the large Great Room and the first thing you see is a luxurious home. Brazilian Rosewood flooring, crowned with 11 ft ceilings, and this is not new construction. High ceilings and Brazilian Rosewood are on every floor.
Dining Room table is at the front of the house and faces the now Reconstructed Dickinson Square Park, a gas ventless fireplace is also near the Dining Room table, no more cold feet while eating your meal. Walk past bookshelves and comfy chairs into the large chef’s kitchen.
Kitchen has 2 sinks, one for Kosher food preparation, granite counter tops and an Antique cupboard that is staying with the house. Off the kitchen is a small patio with tables and barbecue grill. 1/2 Bath is large and located off to the side. Walk past the living area and up the wide steps to the 2nd and 3rd floors.
There are 4 large bedrooms in the house, 2 on each upper floor with each floor having their own large bathroom. Hallways are wide for extra furniture.
The 2nd floor bath has granite counters and a large closet that houses the stackable washer and dryer. The master bedroom is located on the 3rd floor. This bedroom has 16 ft. high ceilings, a walk-in closet and privacy.
Bathroom on this floor has a handmade hammered copper sink and claw foot tub and walk in shower. Beautiful chandeliers, small and large are everywhere giving the house extra light.
What do you think of it?
I think it’s funny that they describe the dining room table and comfy seats- as if the furniture arrangement is part of the house, when it actually detracts from what looks like a nice place. And about $100K too high.
Christine, I agree about the furniture! I like the quirkiness of the furniture, but it just doesn’t go with the house. Something’s off.
The bones of the house itself though, are beautiful. If the buyers can look past the furniture, it’s a lovely space.
Agreed, its quirky layout doesn’t match a nearly half-mil price. doesn’t show basement or backyard. think it would need some work overall, nice as it shows. But I’d get rid of most of the furniture, flip the dr/lr arrangement and toss that borscht colored rug for showing.
I like that it seems to have the owners’ things and not the cookie-cutter bechevroned items of a stager.
nice house. seems a bit high. i’d say $445K. but hey, let’s see what where it closes!
