The restaurant opened in the spot in the 1997, but more recently the space was rented out to a different restaurant, Spitalieri’s, which recently closed in the location.

More from The Insider:

This will be Frusone’s second comeback to the spot at 613 E. Passyunk Ave. that he opened in 1997. In 2000, he moved to Italy for 10 years.

Frusone hit the restaurant radar with the long-gone Ristorante San Carlo, which he operated with his brother, Giancarlo. They now own Me-N-Mo, the meatball specialist at 214 South St.

Sandro Frusone said he’s aiming for a June 10 opening.

What do you think of Gnocchi coming back to this space?

Awesome! Glad to see they are re-opening. They had great food and a great atmosphere, but this article says they’ve closed down in 2000? I’m confused a bit. I was here a few times within the last 10 years and once more before they closed in December of 2013 always at this location. What am i missing? lol
