SoPhilly Spotlight: Huge Broad Street home edition

This week’s SoPhilly Spotlight is a huge, older home located at 1834-36 S. Broad St.

broad-street-1 Not only does this 2,556 sq. ft., 4 bedroom and 3.5 bath home have plenty of space, including a backyard, but it also has an abundance of charming details–ranging from stained glass windows to a parlor room.

This beautiful home is currently listed for $635,000.

More from the Keller Williams listing:

This handsome older home in a central location has a full-lot private garden with mature trees and a fish pond. The property retains original stained glass, woodwork and Lincrusta paneling, but has upgraded electrical, heating and plumbing systems, modern storm windows and a skylighted addition in the rear.

The whole combines historic ambiance with the possibility of greatly varied uses. The entryway features beautiful stained glass and wooden wainscoting, leading you into a restful foyer with hardwood floors, more stained glass and an elegant staircase.

The front room has a picture window with stained glass, the original mantelpiece, and can be closed off for privacy. It has served both as a family parlor and a consulting office. To the rear is the dining room with mantelpiece and a bay window overlooking the patio in the garden.

In the large unfinished basement, the front is the utility room, and the rest now used as an office with half bath and storage area.

Windows in the basement look out onto both Broad Street and the garden area. From this property, you are within walking distance of restaurants, food markets, libraries, the subway and bus lines. If you’re driving, Routes 95 and 76 are about 2 miles away. The neighborhood now seems to be an extension of The Avenue of the Arts.

Is there no kitchen? There is a room with kitchen cabinets, but it is furnished like a sitting room. There is a dresser where there should be an oven. Each kitchen cabinet has a unique color scheme and decoration. This place is wild.

If you look at the full listing, you will see that there is a kitchen. The picture in this post that sort of looks like a kitchen is possibly a workshop.
