Boot and Saddle’s sign reinstalled after restoration

UPDATE: On June 11 the sign was taken down again. No word yet on when it will be back, or the reason for the sign’s short-lived return.

Last month the iconic sign outside of Boot and Saddle music venue and bar at 1131 S. Broad St. was taken down for restoration.

On Saturday, the boot sign was finally reinstalled, making the street a bit brighter again.

The sign was restored by Len Davidson, who is pretty experienced with working with neon signs. He has completed thousands of custom neon sign projects, is the collector behind Philadelphia Neon Museum and also restored the well-known Reading Terminal Market sign.

When reopening this bar as a music venue about two years ago, the South Broad Street Neighbors Association had stipulations regarding the noise, crowd control, amplification and the restoration of the sign. Now that the sign’s been restored, it seems as though the final steps in the reopening of this spot are pretty much completed.
