Buttercream Cupcake closing at 2015 E. Moyamensing Ave.

Buttercream Cupcake has been open at 2015 E. Moyamensing Ave. since 2013, serving up plenty of sweet treats.

Buttercream

The cupcake shop has decided to close up this location to focus more on the operation of their popular food truck, which has been around since 2009.

More from a statement on Buttercream Cupcake’s website:

We have been leasing here in South Philly for the last 3 years, after much thought I have decided not to renew in our current location. The main reason is that I want to grow in specific ways, add on another truck and carts for ice cream sandwiches, and the space and parking in our location would make that growth very difficult. I am already in a residential area where parking the truck, loading it, etc. has been difficult, as well as disruptive to the neighborhood.

Buttercream will be open with limited hours until they officially close up shop here in August.

But don’t worry, even though this Pennsport location is closing, you can still get your cupcake fix at their food truck. You can keep up with Buttercream on their website.

With Buttercream closing, what would you like to see open in this location?

Please God, bring us a coffee shop with delicious baked goods. Please.

Before the snark rolls in, this place is a half-block from Snyder, between two stops on the packed 57 bus and 79 routes bus and located on the super-wide, bike-laned Moyamensing Ave.

It’s a great spot and the southern end of Pennsport is changing. NEED MOAR COFFEE.

Is that another of those “cursed” locations where businesses come and go with distressing regularity? I do hope that whatever opens there can stay in business for more than 3 years.
