Kevin Bacon still misses Snyder Avenue’s Melrose Diner

If you’ve been down Snyder Avenue, you’ve definitely spotted Melrose Diner. If you haven’t been to the 24-hour spot, which has been around since 1935, here’s some more incentive to stop in for some good old diner food.

The actor Kevin Bacon, who grew up in Philadelphia, apparently loves the spot, saying that at age 57, he still misses the fun of a night of partying, followed by some food at Melrose.

More from Philly.com:

Bacon recently sat down with Bon Appetit magazine to talk all things food (yes, including bacon) when the subject of Bacon’s breakthrough 1982 film, Diner, came up. So, naturally, Bon Appetit had to know what diner Bacon missed the most:

Bon Appetit: One last thing: It’s been awhile since your breakthrough performance in Diner. As you get older, what’s one diner you still miss?

Bacon: We used to go down to the Melrose Diner. It’s 24 hours and down in South Philly — a big old diner. You’d party as a kid and then end up at Melrose.

I wish Kevin Bacon would buy the Melrose off the people running it now… Bring it back to glory.
