Barbershop opening in former Hip & Thrifty location at 1810 E. Passyunk Ave.
The retail space at 1810 E. Passyunk Ave. has been empty since Hip & Thrifty, the women’s clothing and consignment shop, closed its doors back in January.
Now a barbershop called Meister’s Barbershop is expected to open in the location in September.
Owner Rob Baumiester (see where the name comes from?) says that the shop will be decorated in a vintage-modern style, along with some industrial elements. They’ve been working on some improvements to the location, including the brick walls and the addition of hardwood floors. The shop will also have four 1950’s barbershop chairs.

Meister’s will specialize in men’s hair and straight razor shaves.

Nice! Too bad he couldn’t take over the closed Monestero’s barber shop.

Sorry, that was just speculation. No idea if it’s available, just thought it would be nice to re-open the old-school place.

Yeah, I’m pretty stoked also. A real barbershop has been sorely lacking in this area.
