Vendemmia Foundation Wine Festival happening this weekend in Girard Park

Looking to indulge in some fine wines this weekend? The 19th annual Vendemmia Foundation Wine Festival is heading to South Philly for another year of food, drink and all-around merriment.

If you’re ready to try a variety of wines from local and regional winemakers, now is your chance at Girard Park on Sunday, October 4.

Beyond the food and drink you’ll be enjoying at the event, the cost of admission also goes to a good cause. The proceeds of this event go towards 20 annual scholarships that the Vendemmia Foundation awards to local students on their way to high school or college.

While everyone in attendance can enjoy the wines, this event also serves as a competition for winemakers to show what they’re made of. The competition for best wines in various categories is judged by a panel of wine specialists (one is actually a specialist in Viticulture).

Tickets are $50 in advance, or $55 day of the event. If you’re planning on getting a big party together for the event, you can also get a reserved table for 10 people for $550.

The festival runs from 2 p.m. through 6 p.m. on Sunday at Girard Park at 21st and Porter. You can find out more info about the event here.
