Mt. Sinai could be demolished any day now

As we told you at the beginning of September, the demolition of Mt. Sinai would begin sometime soon.

Now that October is here, permits are now posted, meaning demolition of the building at 4th and Reed could really begin any day now.

Plans have changed a lot since the redevelopment of this site was first announced. Originally parts of the original structure would remain, but now the entire building will be demolished to make way for 95 townhomes. The Civic Design Review had some problems with the plans, but the project is still continuing to move forward.

You can read more about the past and present plans for this location here.

I was really hoping or adaptive re-use on at least part of the building. However, I guess this is better than having an empty, fenced off building for another decade. Let’s just hope the houses don’t all look the same like the mini suburbia neighborhood near the site.
